We're building a fitness coaching platform that helps trainers manage their clients, create workout and nutrition plans, track progress, and process payments. Think of it as an all-in-one business management tool for fitness professionals.

Compensation: 75,000-80,000 ETB/month
Duration: 3-4 months (December 2025 - April 2026)
Work Type: Remote, Full-time
Location: Bi-weekly in-person meetups may be required
Launch: May 2026

Backend Developer

Build APIs, database, and server infrastructure

Technical Stack

Node.js • Express.js • PostgreSQL • JWT • Stripe API • AWS • WebSockets • REST APIs

Required Skills

  • 2-3+ years experience with Node.js and Express.js
  • Strong PostgreSQL database design and optimization
  • RESTful API development
  • Authentication systems (JWT, OAuth)
  • Payment integration experience (Stripe preferred)
  • AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3)
  • Real-time features using WebSockets
  • Git version control
  • Strong English communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with fitness or health tech platforms
  • Wearable device API integration (Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin)
  • Background job processing (Bull, Agenda)
  • Docker and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with AI coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot)

What We're Looking For

We need someone who writes clean, maintainable code and can work independently. You should be comfortable making technical decisions, solving complex problems, and communicating clearly about your progress. Previous experience building complete backend systems from scratch is essential.
